Theory Series: Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (1 hr)

Participants will engage with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as well as new research that adds to this theory. Maslow’s pyramid is a mainstay of both humanistic psychology and educational practices. We will discuss the key components and how we might use these ideas to create curriculum and aid in lesson planning.

  • Examine Abraham Maslow and what led to his theoretical studies.
  • Interpret the various aspects of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory.
  • Prepare to consider the use of this theory in classroom planning.
